Reptiles of the World

Our Reptiles of the World program brings snakes, lizards and turtles to you.

During our program your guests will have the opportunity to hold a gecko, touch a tortoise, hang out with snakes, plus two surprise reptiles for a total of 6 animal ambassadors. We always bring a great variety of these amazing reptiles from all over the world. Our programs are fully hands-on.

The exact animals that come depend on who's shedding, feed schedules, the age of the children, and the weather the day of if it’s an outdoor event. Meet some of our animal ambassadors here: https://www.thingsthatcreep.org/animal-ambassadors

If there's a specific animal or group of animals that you're excited about, we can make sure to bring those and focus the program based on your interests.

Our animal ambassadors visit classrooms, summer camps, birthday parties for people of all ages, company events, senior centers, festivals and more. We’ve worked with every age group and tailor the program to fit your needs. For larger events, we offer a table set-up where guests can come and interact with the animals as they want to. Programs are available in English & Spanish.

Rates:

$499 for our one hour program with 6 animals and two educators and unlimited guests. The smaller the group, the more hands-on time each person gets with the animals.

Thanks to your support we are able to offer free and low-cost educational programs to qualifying public schools and educational non-profits. We want our programs to be accessible to all. Please let us know if you need financial aid.

All of our educators are fully vaccinated for COVID and are continuing to wear KN95 masks during indoor programs to help keep our community safe. Happy to wear them during outdoor programs by request as well.

Children use hand signals to indicate their level of comfort with the animals and we bring each animal around allowing them to touch and hold the animals gently and safely. Here children are holding and observing Flo, our kingsnake at a birthday party.

Covid Safety: Our educators are vaccinated and are masked during indoor programs.

Animal Safety: Most of our animal ambassadors were previously pets that their owners could no longer care for, so they are animals that have always lived in captivity and are comfortable with humans. We spend months, often years working with each individual animal before they become animal ambassadors. Each program begins with animal safety & proper handling rules. We work very hard to provide a safe space for everyone, both humans and critters.

Tips for a successful reptile party:

  • Start the reptile program at least 30 minutes after the party begins to allow time for everyone to arrive. We begin our programs with animal handling safety, so it’s important for all guests to be present at the beginning of the program.

  • Keep food & animals separate. Meals and snacks should not be available while the reptile program is happening.

  • Ideal set-up: open floor plan that allows space for everyone to sit on the floor in a half circle. Shade is outdoors.

  • Provide a separate space for mingling adults who aren’t actively participating in the program to allow those interacting to have a more full experience.
